Women's Studies Major, 34 credits
The Women's Studies Program at SUNY New Paltz offers a Bachelor of Arts degree. All majors take a required core of 19 credits. This includes:
Women: Images and Realities, Practicum in Women's Studies, Senior Seminar in Women's Studies and one course from each of three categories that offers a distinct perspective on the study of women.
Students complete the remaining series of courses (minimum 15 credits) depending upon their choice of three program options:
A single major in Women's Studies or
A dual major- a major both in Women's Studies and another discipline.
In a single major students choose three courses in one of the following concentrations and two electives:
Literature, Communication Arts, Visual Arts, and Theater
Theoretical Perspectives
Human Services and Social Change
History, Politics, and Work
In a dual major a student chooses five electives, under advisement, that complement the second major. Students should consult the Women's Studies Program faculty about advising and registration for the major.
