General Requirements:

  • Composition credits (ENG160, ENG170, ENG180, ENG206, ENG207) do not count toward the English or Creative Writing minors.
  • Courses taken S*/U* (student-elected Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory) or graded below C- will not count toward the minors.


Minor in English (19-20 credits)

Three elective courses in English or Linguistics, excluding ENG160, ENG170, ENG180, ENG206, ENG207, ENG224, ENG226, ENG448, ENG452, ENG453, ENG454, ENG455. At least two English courses must be at the 400 level, and one must be in literature before 1800.

*NOTE: Transfer students may need to take additional elective credits in order to compensate for 3-credit survey courses accepted as equivalent to 4-credit ENG courses at New Paltz. All students must complete at least 19 credits for the minor in English.
