The undergraduate program for art education provides a curriculum leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education. The curriculum plan includes course work in Studio Art, Art Criticism, Art History, Art Education, and General Education. Upon successful completion of the baccalaureate program, students are eligible for New York State initial certification to teach art in the public schools. (For additional information about student teaching and certification, see the section on Teacher Education Programs in this catalog.)  A minimum grade point average of 2.75 is required for admission to the Art Studio program, which is a prerequisite for the Art Education major.  A minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required for admission to the Art Education program.
