Where is the Tutoring Center?

The Tutoring and Writing Centers are located in Room B106 of the Old Main Building basement.

How do I receive tutoring?

If you would like a tutor, please come down to the Tutoring Center office. You will be asked to complete an application and turn it in to one of the office clerks. You will be notified by telephone of your first appointment.

You may complete the application form online, and then PRINT IT OUT and TAKE IT TO THE TUTORING CENTER RECEPTION DESK in OM B106. Click here.

What if I cannot commit to a weekly tutoring session?

For short term assistance, the Tutoring Center offers walk-in sessions in writing. Hours and details about these programs are listed on the Writers' Assistance page.

I would like to be a tutor. How do I apply?

To be a tutor, you need an overall GPA of 3.0 or better, a faculty recommendation, and an A or A- in the course(s) you plan to tutor. Come to the Center for an application, or download it here. Make an appointment with Landan Gross for an interview.

I am unable to attend my scheduled tutoring appointment. What should I do?

The Tutoring Center has a strict attendance policy. By enrolling in the Tutoring program you agree to follow all Tutoring Center policies. If you cannot attend a session, notify your tutor and the Center at 845-257-3580 as soon as possible. If you fail to notify the Center 24 hours in advance, you will receive an unexcused absence.

Do I still meet with my tutor when the College rearranges the Mon-Fri schedule?

When the College changes the normal Mon-Fri schedule (for example, on Monday you will attend your Thursday classes), your tutoring session for that day will be cancelled. However, you have the option to reschedule missed sessions with your tutor.

Do I still meet on days when there are no classes?

If classes are not in session due to a holiday or snow cancellation, your tutoring session will not meet. If you are unsure of whether or not your session will take place, call the Center at 845-257-3580.
