Joseph C. Paparone
Earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Trenton State and Montclair State colleges respectively. He holds a PH.D in Theatre and Drama from Indiana University. He began teaching at New Paltz in 1970 and has taught in many areas of the program. He began with some of the technical courses in Stagecraft and Stage Lighting and then moved to Theatre History and Dramatic Literature and finally Performance courses. He has served the program as Technical Director, Scene Designer, Lighting Designer, Director, Actor, Business Manager, and Producer. He has served four different terms as the Chair of the Department. He has directed over fifteen productions and produced over forty productions for the Department. He has performed with the students and the community in several of the New Paltz Summer Repertory Theatre productions. He belongs to the Actors Equity Association (AEA) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and has performed professionally in films, television, and on the stage. His most recent film credits include PERFECT STRANGER, and ROMANCE AND CIGARETTES. On television he has appeared in several LAW & ORDER episodes. He also appeared in three episodes of the comic series, ED.
