Bio:

Stephen Kitsakos has been involved in a variety of roles in the professional and academic theatre for the past 30 years. A permanent member of the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop and a graduate of NYU, he received training as a theatre composer and lyricist. A writer member of ASCAP, he has received commissions from the BMI Foundation, Catskill Watershed Corp, Episcopal Diocese of New York, Fourth Wall Musical Theatre, the Smithsonian Institution, U.Conn at Storrs and SUNY Stony Brook. He wrote the libretto for the cantata The White Rooster, a Tale of Compassion (2009), for the Boston-based early music ensemble Tapestry in July, 2010 which is currently on tour. At SUNY New Paltz he directed the World Premiere of the play Red Masquerade by Jack Wade, a finalist for the regional Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and The Wakeville Stories, by Laurence Carr, the inaugural play in the new play reading series. He is a regular contributor to The Sondheim Review and teaches each summer at Shantigar, the retreat of playwright Jean-Claude van Italie.
