Alpha Psi Omega
The national theatre honor society was founded in 1925 as an organization for dedicated, theatre-loving college students. Members of Alpha Psi Omega are dedicated to the promotion of theatre and to community service. Students who have earned points through participation in theatre program activities are eligible to become full voting members through an initiation process. The goal of the group is to support the theatrical arts at SUNY New Paltz and in the community at large either by direct involvement in productions, or creating special projects that provide additional creative outlets. Students also participate in fundraisers for the group which go towards social events, philanthropic causes, or other voted activities.
New Paltz Players
New Paltz Players is a student organization dedicated to bringing theatre to the campus and community. New Paltz Players is the producing body for the Black Box Theatre in SAB100. Other creative projects include Midnight Theatre, a free open microphone night open to all members of the campus and community to perform skits, scenes, songs, dances, and poetry readings. New Paltz Players exists to serve as a weekly forum for students interested in creating and celebrating theatre to come together and collaborate on various theatre projects on our campus. New Paltz Players is also a proud member of the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS School Outreach Program. The main goals of the New Paltz Players are to strengthen the community we are a part of and to create a new generation of theatre patrons. All are invited and welcome to attend our weekly meetings. New Paltz Players is a proud member of the Student Association.
Theatre Technology and Design Association
The Theatre Technology and Design Association (TTADA) is a student founded and run organization that aims to enhance SUNY New Paltz's education in design and technical theatre. TTADA strives to further their understanding of the professional theatre industry by hosting guest lectures, attending theatre conferences, and carrying out other theatrical outreach projects. One of TTADA's main goals each academic year is to send a group of those interested to the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) conference. This is a great opportunity for students to jump start the beginning of their careers. Students participate in fundraising for the afore mentioned conference, social events, and other voted activities. All are invited and welcome to attend weekly meetings.
