Theatre Arts Curriculum
Theatre students receive a solid foundation in the history, literature and theory of theatre to provide the basis for artistic expression. On the foundation of broad theatre knowledge, the student will elect to pursue a concentration in one of three areas: Design/Technology, Performance or Theatre Studies. The Design/Technology track includes training in set, lighting, costume design and drawing & painting, with additional areas of study in stage management and technical theatre. The core of the performance track is the acting curriculum, with additional course offerings in movement, musical theatre skills, voice and speech. The Theatre Studies area incorporates directing, theatre management, studies in literature and dramaturgy. In addition, all theatre majors are required to complete a minor of their own choosing with a minimum of 18 credits.
