Administrative, RF, or Outside Agency Authorization Codes
An authorization code (PBN) allows local or long-distance calls from any campus business telephone. For security purposes, telephones in open areas, such as house or lobby phones, are restricted to allow calls only to other extensions on campus, the outside operator for calling card or operator-assisted calls, and the University Police for emergencies (x911).

Although student local and long distance calls are free, a PBN is necessary to make off-campus calls. The PBN is a six-digit number that is assigned to incoming residence hall students before they arrive on campus in August. In order to take advantage of our FREE local and long distance (US) calling, you’ll have to dial * 6 * Y O U R P B N # 9 to get a dial tone.
