Telecommunications operates the campus phone and voicemail systems, is responsible for all telephone and network communications wiring and cabling (including security alarms and cameras, wireless access points, vending machines, and “smart” classrooms) both inside and outside campus residence, administrative, and academic buildings. The goal of Telecommunications is to avoid disruption of service and to prevent problems by detecting and correcting them before they occur. To that end, we will plan routine maintenance, updates and patches for periods during the year that will affect the fewest people. However, it is not realistic to believe either our systems or those of our carriers will not, at times, fail.
For both planned and unplanned disruptions, we will inform the campus community via email as soon as possible. Information will also be posted on the Telecommunications Web page.
