Role of the Web Management Office

The Web Management Office oversees the main university Web site (www.newpaltz.edu). It also maintains department Web sites, assists departments in the development of new Web sites, and serves as a consultant to the campus. The Web Management Office is staffed with a Senior Web Producer, Web Production Assistant, Director of Web Communications & Strategic Projects, part-time student assistants, and works closely with the Director, Web programmer and system administrators in the Computer Services department.

When a project is submitted to the Web Management Office, a work order is created. Projects will be completed in the order in which they are received, unless the timeliness of another project is determined to take priority. When a brand new Web site is completed, the contact person will be sent a Proof Approval Form (see Appendix A). Within 10 days of receiving this form, the site should be reviewed at the temporary location listed on the form. This is the opportunity to make final adjustments to a Web site before it is launched for the public to view and use. New sites will not be launched without the contact's signature on the form and the "OK to launch" (no corrections) box checked. If corrections are needed, check the box "make corrections and send another proof." After 10 days the proof site will be removed.

Routine updates to existing sites will be made in a timely fashion through the office's work order process, and contacts will be notified when the changes are completed and available on the live site.
