Courses Offered

FRENCH LANGUAGE & PHONETICS (Beginning level)
Prerequisites and Language Level

Note: A placement exam will be required when you
arrive on site.


There is no language prerequisite for courses at this language level. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the courselevel into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview
OBJECTIVE: Acquire the grammatical structures and basic vocabulary.  Learn to express oneself in daily life situations.  Course content: French Language 18 hrs/week

6 semester credit units


FRENCH LANGUAGE & PHONETICS (Intermediate level)
Prerequisites and Language Level

Note: A placement exam will be required when you arrive on site.
This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of two semesters (or three quarters) of college-level
French. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview

OBJECTIVE: Acquire the grammatical structures and basic vocabulary. Learn to express oneself in daily life situations.

Course content: French Language 18 hrs/week

6 semester credit units


FRENCH LANGUAGE & PHONETICS (High Intermediate level)

This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of three semesters (or five quarters) of college-level
French. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview

OBJECTIVES:

-Develop written and oral competence with linguistic and communicative approaches.
-Move from concrete situations to more abstract ideas.
-Deepen knowledge about France.

Course content: French Language 18 hrs/week
6 semester credit units


FRENCH LANGUAGE & PHONETICS (Advanced level)

Prerequisites and Language Level

Note: A placement exam will be required when you arrive on site.

This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of four semesters (or six quarters) of college-level
French. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview
OBJECTIVES:

Systematic revision of knowledge and competency in the language and communication. Acquisition of the methods of oral presentation and argumentation. Cultural enrichment.

Course content:
French Language 11 hrs/week

Lecture: Art History and Literature* 4 hrs/week

Lecture: Civilization* 1 hr/week

Workshops** 2 hrs/week

6 semester credit units


*Lecture topics subject to change.

**Workshop topics vary but the student may typically choose one of the following:

1. Phonetics
2. Synthesis and argumentation
3. Cinema
4. Theology

Credits

Students register for six credits.
