Internships
Middlesex University, London England

The London Internship Program

ABOUT MIDDLESEX
Middlesex University is a large, dynamic university in North London, with 23,000 students studying in more than one hundred subject areas. Middlesex was a pioneer in providing opportunities for supervised work experience and today offers one of the widest ranges of internships in the UK.

To participate in the London Internship program you must also enroll in the Middlesex University program. Click here for details.

THE LONDON INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The program provides Fall or Spring semester opportunities to gain work experience in an UK organization and undertake academic study at the same time. Students are able to familiarize themselves with the work environment, enhance their skills and career prospects, earn academic credit, and make an active contribution to the organization in which they are placed. Internships last 12 weeks in semesters 1 or 2 and normally take place over 2 days per week so students can combine them with other university courses.

OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE IN:

  • Business
  • Community Service Learning
  • Public and Social Policy
  • Criminal Justice
  • Third World Development Studies
  • Politics

INTERNSHIP SUPPORT
Placement staff will work with you in searching for an appropriate internship relevant to your chosen area of study.  Both before and throughout the placement, staff will be on hand to answer any of your queries.

Once a suitable internship has been found, a designated tutor will offer academic support and guidance during your placement, outlining the assessment and monitoring your progress.  The tutor will work with employers to ensure that the internship is both practically and academically challenging.

CREDITS/ASSESSMENT
Internships are project based and carry university credit.  Assessment requirements vary depending on internship but typically involve a combination of work based projects, employer evaluation, and journal or major paper related to the internship.  Student progress is monitored throughout the internship.

QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must have a GPA of 2.7 or better and have completed at least one year of college level study.
