Overview and Staff > Center Goals

The five goals of the Center for Student Development are:

Goal #1 - To maximize the retention and academic success of students by: creating a smooth transition from the time of admission (acceptance) to attendance in classes; providing reassurance and a sense of trust with college choice - for parents and family members; increasing student satisfaction through a sense of belonging and being cared about; building identification with the College and acceptance of its diversity; and fostering a foundation for the pursuit of community involvement.

Goal #2 - To foster a campus environment that promotes healthy and responsible decision-making regarding alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, as well as the prevention of sexual violence.

Goal #3 - To offer opportunities for leadership development, social development and service to the campus and local community.

Goal #4 - To successfully pursue external funding which supports health promotion and research initiatives, and brings recognition to the campus.

Goal #5 - To serve as a primary link to the campus for the parents and family members of our new and continuing students.
