A Success

Our first meeting of the year since our BBQ was postponed because of rain. Brian brought the movie 'Flatland,'which was an interesting view of both different dimensions as well as Victorian social hierarchy.

We are planning on putting to use the Chaos Theory books which we ordered last semester but were never able to get very far through. We hope to get Professor Biswas to come speak to us about black holes which should be really interesting.

Professor Biswas and Black Holes

Professor Biswas of the physics department nicely offered to present a slide show and discussion of Black Holes. Though many of the details of the presentation were hard to interpret, the meeting was a nice introduction into one of the many odd theories of physics.

A First Look into Chaos Theory

Brian and Tim(president and vice-president) brought the Chaos Theory books to Tuesday night's meeting, and were able to teach the group some of the fundamental ideas behind chaos theory. We completed a basic review of chapters 1 through 5, and are hoping to get members to look over chapters 6 through 8 for next meeting.

When Chaos Theory, Settlers of Catan, and Pizza, Mix

We started out Tuesday's meeting with a review of some basic Chaos Theory we had learned about last meeting. After the review, Kevin brought out his Settlers of Catan board game and Brian provided pizza. Although we could not complete a full game due to time constraints, the amount we got to was fun and interesting. Along with the pizza, the game was a nice deviation from the complexity of Chaos Theory.
