A Summer Trip to the Moon

07/23/2010

Who says teachers don't work over the summer?

Some summer activities involve workshops with in-service teachers who willingly give up a week of their summer vacations to learn some new things, or get better at what they already do! NASA's Education and Public Outreach team for the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter mission put together a great week of professional development for educators. The session was held at the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Maryland, and was designed for teachers of grades 5 - 12. Everyone had a blast!

Modeling phases of the Moon is kinesthetic!

We can create craters better than any meteor.

Lunar regolith? Looks a lot like the dirt in my backyard?
