Secondary Education for Science & Math Story

Spring Break is Cool; Back to School is Better

03/28/2010

Spring break was beautiful as mother nature left winter behind for a most wonderful week. Then the secondary education students got down to business with the Middle School Enrichment Program we conduct with 15 local middle school students each Wednesday afternoon from 3:30-5:30.

This week we challenged the students to design a structure to hold a raw egg that could protect the egg as it was catapulted up, up, and away with a homemade catapult system designed by professor Millham's husband over the weekend.

The students did a great job and all but three of the designs worked, keeping the eggs safe for another day.

The spiffy catapult ready and waiting.

Just how far did that egg go?

That was a long shot! Where did the egg go?

Whoa! A backward flipping egg! Cool!

'Eggciting' fun in the sun!
