2011-2012 HR Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship Recipient Announced

06/13/2011

The Mid-Hudson Human Resources Association (MHHRA) and the State University of New York at New Paltz are pleased to announce that Emma Lynch has been selected as the recipient of the 2011-2012 HR Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship. This scholarship was established in 2006 by MHHRA to recognize and encourage New Paltz students who are interested in pursuing a career in the profession of human resource (HR) management. Preference is given to applicants who are active student members of the Management Association (MA), the New Paltz student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

“MHHRA is very pleased to be able to offer the HR Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship again this year,” said Nancy Couse, MHHRA President. “Even in this economic climate it is important that we help students reach their academic goals.”

“As the costs for attending college continue to increase, offering a student scholarship is a remarkable way for organizations such as MHHRA to positively impact the lives of students and to recognize the academic accomplishments of a student scholar,” said Shaun Hoff, MHHRA Student Chapter Liaison for New Paltz.

Emma is an undergraduate student at New Paltz with a double major in Business Management and International Business who plans to graduate following the 2011-2012 academic year. In addition to her volunteer and work experience on-campus and off-campus, Emma is an active member of the campus community and in extracurricular activities for the School of Business. Since Fall 2010, she has served as a board member of the Management Association. She has volunteered to lead and organize student chapter activities such as fundraising for the Families of New Paltz, which is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to helping people help themselves by providing support and resources to people in need. Her future goals include aspiring to pursue a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree at New Paltz and to also become employed in a human resource management position.

MHHRA is an organization, affiliated with SHRM, based in Dutchess and Ulster counties of New York State for HR professionals. The association is dedicated to the advancement of the HR profession and the development of HR professionals in the community.
