School of Business to host ethics forum

10/27/2010

The School of Business at the State University of New York at New Paltz will hold an ethics forum entitled "Following our ethical GPS: Lessons from a lost generation" on November 16 from 5 - 6:30 p.m. in Lecture Center 100.

During the past two years we have experienced a cataclysmic shock from a near meltdown of the global financial system. Keith T. Darcy, executive director and CEO of the Ethics & Compliance Officer Association (ECOA), will reflect on the ethical landscape and what is in store in the days ahead.

Darcy combines a 30-year career in the financial services industry with his profession as an educator and his lifelong involvement in business ethics, corporate governance and organizational leadership. The ECOA is the largest organization of ethics and compliance practitioners with over 1,200 members worldwide. The ECOA counts among its member companies more than one-half of the Fortune 100, with ethics officers serving in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Tom Sipos, chairman of the school's Business Advisory Council and sponsor of the forum said, "A majority of the problems we face in our nation today are rooted in a lack of corporate or governmental ethics and integrity. These two characteristics of leadership are the bedrock that successful organizations are built on. Teaching ethics and integrity is part of the embedded culture of the School of Business as we train our students to be future leaders. We look forward to the message that Keith Darcy brings to the school in support of our existing efforts."

Please contact Hadi Salavitabar, dean of the School of Business, at (845) 257-2930 to register for this event or for more information.
