2014 Hall of Fame Inductees

The State University of New York at New Paltz is delighted to announce the
2014 School of Business Hall of Fame inductees:

Business of the Year: Health Quest

Health Quest, as the Mid-Hudson Valley's largest integrated healthcare system, provides a continuum of care for the over 1 million residents in the service area. It currently includes Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital, Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Health Quest Medical Practice, a long term care facility, a free standing radiation oncology center, urgent care centers, and a home care service. The system employs over 4,000 individuals; affiliates with higher educations institutions, including SUNY New Paltz; conducts research and is recognized for clinical excellence.

Health Grades, a leading hospital ratings organization for over 4,500 hospitals nationwide, recently released its 2013 ranking and distinctions. VBMC was one of America's 100 best hospitals for Cardiac Surgery for three years in a row and the Cardiac Surgery Excellence Award winner for seven years in a row.

Dean's Award of Excellence: Rural Ulster Preservation Company (RUPCO)

Established in 1981, RUPCO is a nonprofit agency with the mission to create homes, support people and improve communities. Their vision is for strong vibrant communities with opportunity and a home for everyone. They have successfully promoted this vision by becoming the region's leading provider and advocate of quality, affordable housing and community development programs aimed to provide opportunity and revitalize communities.  The agency creates stronger and safer communities for all through the development, improvement, preservation and addition of housing and business opportunities throughout the region.

Since 2009, they have actively supported the SUNY New Paltz Internship Program, with approximately 20 interns working in their agency to assist in all business lines. RUPCO has embraced the students by offering them many mentoring opportunities and life experiences that will support and further their careers.

Alumnus of the Year: Rebecca Hasbrouck '00, '04g                                 

Rebecca Hasbrouck graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2000 with a B.S. degree and 2004 with an MBA. Since her graduation she has earned the professional letters CPA in 2006, CITP in 2011 and CGMA in 2012.

Rebecca joined the firm, Vanacore, DeBenedictus, DiGovanni & Weddell in November of 2002.
In 2004 she was promoted to an In-Charge accountant. In 2006 she was promoted to Senior Accountant; 2009 she was promoted to Supervisor and in 2012 she was promoted to Manager. The next logical step for Rebecca is to become a Partner. To assist her in reaching that goal Rebecca is
currently attending the Partner Development Program sponsored by McGladrey.

Rebecca served as an adjunct professor at SUNY New Paltz from 2010-2012 and at Marist College in  2008 and 2009.

Rebecca has been granted the following awards: Orange County Rising Starts in 2001, 40 Under 40 in 2011 and the NYSSCPA Student of the Year in 1999. Rebecca is well-respected by her peers including those in the NYSCCPA and AICPA.

 

Student Leader of the Year: Elizabeth Sydney

Liz has applied her outstanding management, marketing and organizational skills to the collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association and was elected VP of Programming in her first year and subsequently President in her second year. She has successfully completed multiple AMA projects despite deadline pressure with favorable results in the past two years, most notably as VP and then President. Her efforts contributed to the New Paltz AMA chapter receiving the Bronze Chapter Award in 2012-2013 (top 16 chapters in the country) at the International AMA competition in New Orleans. As part of the annual Marketing Plan and Report, delivered in New Orleans, she developed an innovative collaborative marketing plan with her fellow board members that gained very positive comments from the judges at the International AMA conference.
