New faculty members join the School

Hadi Salavitabar, Dean of the School of Business, is pleased with the quality of our new faculty members. "We are very fortunate to find talented faculty members who are well respected in their disciplines to join our family."

Victoria HansenVictoria Hansen, Lecturer of Accounting, joined the School in January 2011. She received a PhD in Accounting from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Science in Taxation from SUNY Albany, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Marist. Her research interests include the behavioral aspects and implications of the tax preparer/client relationship, and the impact of income taxes on corporate behavior and policies. She is a self-employed CPA. She has previous professional experience working for Pricewaterhouse Coopers, LLP as a tax manager, tax senior and tax associate, and D'Arcangelo & Company, LLP as a tax manager.

Pom JirapornPom Jiraporn, Assistant Professor of Marketing, began at New Paltz in August 2011. She received a PhD in Marketing from SUNY Binghamton, a Master in Business Administration-Marketing from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and a BBA in International Business Management from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. Her research interests include goal maintenance, self-construal, temporal mental simulation, construal level, self-regulation, judgment and decision making, framing strategies, branding strategies, network externality, consumer spending and food consumption. She has previous experience working as a product planner with Nissan Motor Co, Ltd in Thailand.

Michael SheridanMichael Sheridan, Lecturer of Management, joined the School in January 2012 and will receive a PhD in Business Administration, specialization in strategy, minor in production operations management from Southern Illinois University in May 2012. He has both a Master of Arts in Appalachian Studies, with a sustainable development concentration and a Bachelors of Science in Anthropology, with a sustainable development concentration from Appalachian State University. His research interests include: the use of rhetoric in the construction of legitimacy in the organic food industry; legitimacy in value-driven industries; sustainable business ventures; organizational discourse; environmental attitudes and behavior; and neo-institutional perspectives on the diffusion of innovations. He served as the Specialty Manager for Earth Fare.

Praowpan TansitpongPraowpan Tansitpong, Lecturer of Operations Management, also started with the School in January and will receive a PhD in Operations Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in May 2012. She has a Master of Science in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship fromBrownUniversity, and a Bachelors of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a minor in Air Transportation Systems from the Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. Her research interests are in operations/marketing interface, product line design, service operations management, national culture and services and airline operations. She has professional experience at Thai Airways International and the Thailand Ministry of Transport.
