Community Arts School at SUNY New Paltz
The Community Arts School in the School of Fine and Performing Arts at SUNY New Paltz offers visual and performing arts classes and workshops for young people and adults. Drawing on the strengths of our nationally ranked college programs, our community classes aim to help students develop a variety of creative characteristics and skills in the arts. Our teachers work with students to explore a wide range of materials and approaches to art, design, and performance, and encourage them to imagine ideas worth expressing and find problems worth solving. In our classes, students are encouraged to see the world
as a constant source of creative ideas to explore, learn expressive skills, take artistic risks in their work, and develop their own independent, artistic judgment.
The programming of the Community Arts School at SUNY New Paltz, including the Saturday Arts Lab and Summer Studio Lab, reflects an ongoing engagement between the School of Fine and Performing Arts and the Hudson Valley community. All classes take place on the SUNY New Paltz campus, a vibrant college setting in Ulster County.
