Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does ResNet work?
A: Using an Ethernet card in your computer, you are able to connect your computer directly to the schools high-speed
LAN (Local Area Network) from your room. Once you are connected
to the LAN, you have access to the Internet 24hrs a day / 7 days a week.
Q: Which Halls are
wired for ResNet?
A: All Residence Halls have ResNet.
Q: What is the minimum
system requirement to use ResNet?
A: If your computer is less then 3 years old, you're
good to go. If it's more then a few years old, you better
check here to make sure.
*Note: Sorry, we no longer give support to Windows 98 users.
Q: Can I get an Ethernet
card & cable from the school?
A: Yes. You may obtain a card & cable on
loan and free of charge from the college. You may keep the
card & cable as long as you are living in a Residence Hall.
When you move off campus, leave or graduate you must return the
card & cable or you can be billed for their full value. Ethernet
cards are only available for desktop PC's in PCI format. You can
obtain your card and cable from the Student Help Desk. *Please note
that we do not supply Ethernet cards for laptops. If your
laptop is not equipped with this card then you must obtain a card
which is compatible with your laptop.
Q: Will I be billed
for my ResNet connection?
A: No - ResNet is standard feature in every room and
there is no extra charge or billing. Just plug in your computer,
configure your settings if needed and start working.
Q: Are there any rules
I should know about?
A: Yes of course there are!!! (Click
here to see the ResNet Participant's agreement)
Q: Do I have to apply for ResNet?
A: No. When you connect to the network for the
first time, you will have to download a program called "Clean
Access" and then login at the simple login screen.
Q: If I’m in a three
or four person room, can all of us get a connection?
A: Yes. When there are more then two people in the same room
that want to use ResNet, you must contact the Student Help Desk and notify them.
A mini-hub will be issued for the room and will stay
(on loan) as long as there are at least three people in the room.

run the same version of software used in the labs from my room?
A: Yes you can run the latest versions of software
right from your room without having the software loaded on your
