RA Application and Reference Foms

 

Dear Applicant,

The Department of Residence Life is proud to announce its student life paraprofessional staff selection process for Spring 2024. While our process is both extensive and comprehensive, our hope is not only to hire staff, but also allow you to grow and learn as an individual.

By completing this application and submitting reference forms, you are showing an interest in becoming more involved in our university community through one of the numerous opportunities offered to our students.

 

APPLICATION

The RA application is to be completed online.  Please read and answer each question carefully on the application confining your answers to the space provided. Please type in your answers, being aware of grammar and spelling.

Applications must be submitted by 12pm on Friday, February 9th.  Late applications will NOT be accepted.

PLEASE NOTE: Completing the application online is only the first step!

Along with completing the RA application, candidates must provide copies of their Unofficial Academic Transcript in PDF format to raselection@newpaltz.edu by 12pm Friday, February 9th.

Candidates will receive a link to schedule an interview by 3pm Friday, February 9th only after submitting the following two items:

  1. RA Application
  2. Unofficial Academic Transcript

*Unofficial Transcripts can be found on the Student Services tab of my.newpaltz.edu.

 

Interview scheduling must be completed by 12pm Tuesday, February 13, 2024. 

***Please note that interview slots are offered on a first come first serve basis, if you are looking to schedule an interview for a particular time or date, it is in your best interest to schedule your interview as soon as possible***

 

REFERENCE/RECOMMENDATION FORMS

You will also need to submit a reference form from an RD and one other person. 

These reference forms are a very important part of your candidacy. There are two types:

  1. RD reference form - You must have a residence director complete one of these. It does not necessarily have to be your current RD. If you lived in a different building last semester or last year and your old RD knows you better, you can have that person do it.
  2. General reference forms - You must also have one other person complete a General Reference Form. Please choose carefully who you ask to complete it. The general reference form can be completed by a faculty or professional staff member (if you transferred into NP you can use people from your previous college), high school teacher, guidance counselor, and/or a current or past employer. Do NOT use family or friends. While close friends and relatives may know you well, they do not provide the most objective input on your strengths and areas of growth so they must not be used as references.

Please be sure to sign and check the box under Family Educational Right and Privacy Act. 

 

Reference forms must be emailed as an attachment in PDF format to raselection@newpaltz.edu** no later than 12pm on Thursday, February 22nd
