Keynote Speaker:
Stephen O’Rourke, PhD, received his BA in psychology from SUNY New Paltz in 1991. He was the valedictorian of his graduating class. He obtained his MA in psychology from SUNY New Paltz in 1994. From there, he entered a PhD program in social/personality psychology at SUNY Albany, where he received a prestigious presidential fellowship. He graduated in 2000 after completing a dissertation examining several broad personality variables in the context of ‘self-discrepancy theory.’ After serving as a visiting lecturer in the psychology department at SUNY New Paltz for a year, Dr. O’Rourke accepted a position as an assistant professor in the psychology department at the College of New Rochelle. He currently teaches several classes, including Personality Psychology and Statistics. He also is conducting research on several topics including the adult attachment process, which concerns qualitative differences in how people form bonds with intimate others into adulthood.
