Student Employment

Our Student Employees are the backbone of the Wellness & Recreation Program.


We are accepting application for the 2008-2009 academic year:

  • Work Study students are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • The Office of Wellness & Recreation is looking for highly motivated and eager student workers to assist us.
  • Non-student athletes are encouraged to apply..
  • Students with either College Work Study or Student Assistant Temporary Service are allowed to apply.
  • Opportunities for CPR, First Aid & AED certification will be made available.
  • Current student workers of the Office of Wellness & Recreation need to re-apply.

Current Positions for 2008-2009 academic year:

  • Fitness Center Counselor
  • Front Desk
  • Aerobics/ Pilates/ Yoga Instructors/ Aqua Aerobics
  • Lifeguards
  • Intramural Supervisor
  • Intramural Scorekeeper
  • Intramural Official

Regardless of where or at what level they serve, our student employees have three primary responsibilities. These are:

  • Health, First Aid, and Safety - seeing that activities are carried out in a safe manner, and in the event of an accident, assuring the victim of proper medical treatment.
  • Security - assuring that our equipment and facilities are available when participants wish to use them.
  • Information - assisting those participants.

Hiring Procedures

Students seeking employment should fill out a Student Employment Application available at the Elting Gymnasium near Room 220. If they are selected, they will then interview with the appropriate person for a position. All student workers will be required to attend training sessions for their position. Students need to know their schedule as to when they can work and how many hours a week they want to work.
