Policies & Procedures

The facilities of the Athletic and Wellness Center are available only to students, faculty members, staff, alumni, and retired faculty/staff, faculty and staff family, retired faculty and staff family showing valid ID cards. If your ID card does not work in the Athletic & Wellness Center then you need to go to the Meal Card/ID office in the SUB 100. All others must possess written authorization from the Office of Wellness and Recreation.

 

Faculty & Staff Family Policy

Athletic & Wellness Center:

$180 per year for a spouse, domestic partner, or family member, 18 and older only (Fall semester through Summer session) or $90 per term. $50 per additional immediate family member for a total of 6 people maximum per family including Faculty or Staff member.

*As of August 9, 2009 $280 per year or $140 per term. $75 for each additional family member.

Family members (18 and older) can purchase a separate membership for the summer session only (May -August) for a fee of $75. Family membership includes parking permit for additional family members, limited to one per family. Faculty/Staff must be an AWC member in order for a family member to purchase membership.

Guest Policy

$10 per day and must be accompanied by a current AWC member. A monthly guest pass can be purchased for $75.  Day passes can be purchased at Front Desk.  Monthly passes purchased at Parking office HAB 35.

*As of August 8, 2009 $20 per day and $100 per month.

Alumni Policy

Alumni wishing to use the Athletic & Wellness Center are required to purchase an Athletic & Wellness Center Membership card. The payment for Alumni is $200 per year (Fall semester thru Summer Session). It is available for $100 per term (Fall semester thru Winter Intercession or Spring semester thru Summer Session. It is not pro-rated within a $100 term.

There are no family privileges for alumni.

Eligible: Former undergraduate and graduate matriculated students of SUNY New Paltz who have taken at least 12 credits

This payment will be made at the Telecommunications/Parking Office in HAB 35. You will then go to the Meal Card/ID office and receive and Athletic & Wellness Center ID card. Please present this card when using the Athletic & Wellness Center.

East Curve, West Curve, & Track

Only those possessing a valid AWC Membership ID card may use these rooms. Upon entry, a card must be presented to attendant. All bags, books, coats, and jackets must be stored in lockers. Proper attire is required: indoor sneakers and athletic apparel are mandatory. Clothing not allowed: sandals, cutoff jeans, jeans, boots, age appropriate clothing that is not revealing. The supervisor has the right to remove anyone not obeying the rules.

Equipment Checkout/Court Reservation Service

Equipment Checkout and Racquetball Court Reservation Service is available to:

  • Students currently enrolled at SUNY New Paltz
  • Faculty/Staff currently enrolled at SUNY New Paltz and their immediate family
  • Retired faculty/staff
  • Current up-to-date AWC membership card holders

Equipment checkout is available to all patrons between 1:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. daily. Most equipment including basketball, volleyball, Wally ball, softball, soccer, football, tennis, racquetball, badminton may be checked out with no charge. Patrons interested in renting a mountain bicycle may do so through equipment checkout, but a fee is required. (Please see Outdoor Pursuits for Mountain Bicycle Checkout Fee and Procedures.)

Equipment Checkout Requirements

  1. A current SUNY New Paltz ID card is required to check out equipment.
  2. All equipment must be returned within 24 hours or a $1.00 fine for each extra day will be applied.
  3. Patrons are responsible for the equipment when it is checked out.

Racquetball Court Reservation Service
Racquetball courts are available for reservation by the following policy:

  1. Open to all faculty, staff and students and their families at no charge during posted hours. An adult family member must accompany children under the age of 18.

  2. Patrons may reserve one court per day for one hour, between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. daily. Reservations are made on an hourly basis.
  3. Reservations may be made at the Front Desk or by phone: (845) 257-3995.
  4. Advance reservations should be made at the Front Desk only.
  5. Court reservations will be held for first 10 minutes after the hour or the reservation will be forfeited with the court reverting to first-come, first-served basis.

Elting Pool
All faculty, staff and students  currently enrolled or employed at the college are allowed to use the pool during posted hours.

Faculty and Staff spouses and children can use the pool for a $10 fee. This fee is for the cost of the membership card. An adult family member must accompany children under the age of 18. Community members may use the pool for a fee as noted on the Wellness and Recreation page.

Swimmers must present ID cards at the front desk of the Athletic & Wellness Center.  Card must be presented to the lifeguard on deck.  Access to pool is through respective locker rooms only. Swimmers 18 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Swimsuits only. Swim caps are required for all persons with neck length hair or longer. Showers are required before entering the pool area. Lifeguards have the authority to remove any person not obeying the rules. No swimming aids are permitted. Diving is not allowed.
