SUNY New Paltz is proud to announce the first annual First-Year Outdoor Trip.
Welcome to New Paltz! The Outdoor First-Year Trip Program is without a doubt one of the best ways to start college. As you begin to start an exciting new journey in your life, why not start New Paltz by making new friends before school starts and learning about life at New Paltz on a fun-filled three day/two night camping trip pre-Welcome Week program. It will be one of the best parts of your first year at New Paltz and one of the most memorable of your entire four years.
When August 18-21, 2008 • Monday, August 18, 2008, 4:00 pm-7:00pm - Arrive at New Paltz-students can move into their Residence Hall. • Tuesday, August 19, 2008 - 8:30 pm - Trip Departs • Thursday, August 21, 2008 -4:30 pm - Trip Returns
Where Catskill Mountains in the Hunter/Phoenicia area (about an hour from campus)
Who 30 First-Year SUNY New Paltz students
Cost $95 per student Cost Includes: • 3 days and 2 nights of camping • Meals from August 18–August 21 • Bus transportation to and from trip • Camping equipment
Who will guide the outdoor trip? The camping trip will be conducted by Alpine Endeavors. Alpine Endeavors will provide experienced guides who are concerned with making your outing as safe as possible. They are accredited by the American Mountain Guides Association. Their senior guides are certified by the American Mountain Guides Association. They are trained in First Aid either as Wilderness First Responders or as Wilderness Emergency Medical Technicians. They are licensed to Guide in New York State for Rock, Ice, Camping, Canoeing, Hiking, and/or Fishing. Safety is their first priority.
