SUNY New Paltz is proud to announce the second annual First-Year Outdoor Trip in August 2009!
Welcome to New Paltz! The Outdoor First-Year Trip Program is without a doubt one of the best ways to start college. As you begin to start an exciting new journey in your life, why not start New Paltz by making new friends before school starts and learning about life at New Paltz on a fun-filled three day/two night camping trip pre-Welcome Week program. It will be one of the best parts of your first year at New Paltz and one of the most memorable of your entire four years.
When is it?
August 17-20, 2009
- Monday, August 17, 2009, 4:00 pm-6:00pm - Arrive at New Paltz-students can move into their Residence Hall.
- Monday, August 17, 2009- 6:30 p.m.-Packing and Gear meeting
- Tuesday, August 18, 2009 - 8:00 am - Trip Departs
- Thursday, August 20, 2009 -4:00 pm - Trip Returns

Catskill Mountains in the Hunter/Phoenicia area (about an hour from campus)

Cost
$95 per student
Cost Includes:
• 3 days and 2 nights of camping
• Meals from August 17–August 20
• Bus transportation to and from trip
• Camping equipment
Who will guide the outdoor trip?
The camping trip will be conducted by Alpine Endeavors. Alpine Endeavors will provide experienced guides who are concerned with making your outing as safe as possible. They are accredited by the American Mountain Guides Association.
Their senior guides are certified by the American Mountain Guides Association. They are trained in First Aid either as Wilderness First Responders or as Wilderness
Emergency Medical Technicians. They are licensed to Guide in New York State for Rock, Ice, Camping, Canoeing, Hiking, and/or Fishing. Safety is their first priority.

How to Sign-up for First-Year Outdoor Trip?
First, please click on SUNY New Paltz First-Year Trip Information Brochure and read completely. Make sure this experience is for you.
Second, if you're interested in adventure please fill out SUNY New Paltz First-Year Registration Form and SUNY New Paltz Health Form and return it as soon as possible to reserve your spot. You will also need to send the check for $95 with registration forms. Please act fast as we anticipate the trip being filled up. The registration deadline is June 30, 2009.
Registration forms will be considered a on a first come first serve basis up to 25 students based on Registration forms date stamped as received. A wait list will be constructed as needed.
Third, you will be notified if you are one of the lucky 25 students. Then you will be emailed a list of what to bring and what not bring on the trip. We will conduct a webinar or a conference call with all campers and the camping guides while you are home to ensure proper gear for the trip.
