The SUNY New Paltz Outdoor Pursuits program is part of the Office of Wellness & Recreation's commitment to provide diverse recreational opportunities for the Campus community.
OUTDOOR PURSUITS
   Outdoor Pursuits are programs that enable participants to take advantage of the great outdoors, and more specifically our New Paltz area as well as surrounding areas. Activities such as rock climbing, camping, mountaineering, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, paintball, cross country skiing , snow shoeing fall into this category. These exciting and challenging opportunities focus on adventure, environmental awareness, education, personal development, social interaction, and just plain fun.
SUNY New Paltz Outdoor Pursuits Program will be working with professionals from Alpine Endeavors, a local guide service. Their credentials are: Accredited by the American Mountain Guides' Association Certified by the American Mountain Guides' Association New York State Licensed for hiking, camping, rock climbing, and ice climbing Trained in wilderness medicine-as Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, or Wilderness EMT's Leave No Trace Master Educators and/or Trainers

Outdoor Pursuits Trips Info.
- All Outdoor Pursuits trips are for students and Faculty/Staff currently employed at SUNY New Paltz
- You must signup in advance. Signups are in Elting Gym room 220 Monday-Friday 12pm-5pm only. Please bring student ID and payment with you. You must pay at the time of signup, no exceptions.
- On trip day you will meet at the front of the Athletic & Wellness Center to catch the bus. Transportation will be included in your trip cost.
- If trip time is 9:00 a.m. please arrive by 8:45 a.m. at the front of the Athletic & Wellness Center.
- You are responsible for all food and lunch that you might need during the day.
- Ski/snowboard trips include rentals, lesson and lift ticket.
Mountain Bike Rentals
(for Students, Faculty/Staff and alumni who are AWC members)

1. A valid SUNY New Paltz photo identification card must be presented at the time of your reservation at the Front Desk of the Athletic & Wellness Center.
2. Cost for mountain bicycle rental: $5.00 per day $7.50 per day late fee 3. Reservations may be made in advance. Reservation on same day rentals is based on availability. To rent, stop by the Front Desk of the Athletic & Wellness Center. 4. All equipment must be returned either on the same day as the rental or maybe held until 4pm the next day or a $7.50 charge will be assessed for each additional day. 5. Renters are responsible for any loss or damage outside the normal wear and tear. If it is damaged, lost or stolen replacement charges will be assessed accordingly.
Indoor Rock Climbing

Where: The Inner Wall The Inner Wall is located on Main Street in Eckerd's Plaza. The Facility is an exciting and spacious place to work out and keep in shape. Climbing is for everyone. If you are not in the best of shape don't worry! We will still get you on the wall. The people that come in to climb are of all ages, shapes and sizes. Cost: $10 for initial fee for your first time (includes all equipment and a lesson!) $3 each additional session How it works: Indoor Rock Climbing is open to you any time the Inner Wall is open. Drop in and climb! Just bring your student SUNY New Paltz ID to the Inner Wall to take advantage of this program!
Hours for the Inner Wall: Mondays: Closed Tuesday & Thursday: 3:30 pm-9:00pm. Wednesday & Friday: 5:00pm-9:00p.m. Saturday & Sunday: 12:00pm-7:00pm.
