HONORS IN POLITICAL SCIENCE
The departmental honors program recognizes outstanding student performance. A chapter of the national political science honors society, Pi Sigma Alpha, has been active on campus since 1979. In addition, students may earn a departmental award of honors in political science at the time of graduation with a G.P.A. of 3.30 and successful completion of Honors Research, under the supervision of a department faculty member and with the approval of the full department.
PI SIGMA ALPHA
Pi Sigma Alpha is the national political science student honor society. The SUNY New Paltz Department of Political Science and International Relations has maintained a membership in Pi Sigma Alpha for the last thirty years, and the department accepts applications at any time from students who meet the following qualifications. A formal induction ceremony for new members from SUNY New Paltz is held annually on the campus in late spring.
