“Turkey and the E.U.”

SUNY New Paltz
The three-credit study tour option includes participation in the SUNY Model EU as well a ten-day academic tour of Turkey after the close of SUNY MEU. SUNY New Paltz Professor of Political Science, İlgü Özler, teaches the course and lectures are integrated into travel and sites. Interested participants can locate further information about Professor Özler at the SUNY New Paltz Department of Political Science webpage. A short list of required readings and description of brief writing assignments (course outline) will be mailed to participants prior to departure.
Travel with the study tour group begins on January 1, out of JFK and concludes with a return flight out of İstanbul on January 16 on Turkish Air. The itinerary of the program, along with the corresponding hotels where we will stay, detailed below. Most meals are included with the program fee, as are the entry fees and cost of in country travel on a chartered bus with a tour guide. There will be optional events along the way, such as a special Turkish dinner evening (with entertainment) and the boat tour of the Bosphorous that will require additional fees to participate.
Participants will apply for the study tour through the Buffalo State Office of International Education, using the standard SUNY system study abroad form, available at the Buffalo State or SUNY MEU site for downloading. Because it is a short study abroad program, it requires only one academic reference form.
