Alleged Sexual Assault (10/15/08)

The New Paltz Town Police are investigating a report of an alleged sexual assault that is believed to have occurred in the Village of New Paltz during the early morning hours of October 15, 2008.

The victim allegedly left a local bar in a dark red/maroon vehicle with three male subjects who were to bring the victim to SUNY New Paltz campus. The early investigation describes the alleged attackers as follows:

#1 - Hispanic male w/medium skin tone, 20's with long hair in braids, wearing a baseball hat.

#2 - Hispanic male w/medium skin, 20's, short hair and baseball hat.

#3 - Black male, driving vehicle.

If you have any information regarding the above incident, please report it to University Police at 257-2222 or New Paltz Police at 255-1323.

Although these incidents occur infrequently, and the investigation is in the early stages, it is important for the campus community to remember the importance of due diligence and practice the following crime prevention tips:

1. Please travel with friends and do not walk to and from town alone.

2. Travel in groups and walk in well lit areas.

3. Do not get in vehicles alone with people you do not know.

4. Do not go alone to homes/apartments of persons you don't know.

5. If anything seems suspicious to you call 911 or your area police department.
