Checking out the Toys

On Saturday, April 2, the Physics department participated in the College’s annual Accepted Students Open House by opening up one of the physics labs to prospective physics majors. Faculty demonstrated some of the equipment that students typically use in the lab, and answered questions about the courses and programs. Then it was the student’s turn with the equipment. The top picture,
shows a visitor investigating electric currents generated by the Earth’s magnetic field. The bottom picture shows another visitor looking through one of the department’s telescopes at a famous tower on a distant mountain.
