A Visit to a Planetarium Can Ignite a Lifelong Love of Astronomy

02/26/2008

Great astronomers:
Ptolemy, Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, Newton, Halley, William and Caroline Herschel, Laplace, Leavitt, Hubble and _________ (your name here)

Albert Einstein’s love of physics was ignited when, as a child, he was amazed by the mysterious qualities of a compass. Similarly, a love of astronomy can be ignited in a child – or an adult – by the mysteries of the skies, demonstrated in a planetarium.

The classic SUNY New Paltz Planetarium is back and better than ever

The SUNY New Paltz Planetarium is now open to the public. Under the dome, a beautiful star field moves overhead while an astronomer introduces you to the night skies and answers your questions. Live astronomy programs are given in our classic star theater for school classes, scout troops, clubs and the public.

We offer presentations on the skies of the seasons and special programs that can be adapted to the needs of any audience. School programs and activities are available for all grades from pre-school to high school, badge activities for scouts and special shows for birthday parties.

Visit this page again soon for information on planetarium events. To schedule a special program for your class or group, contact:
Amy Donnelly, Planetarium Director donnella@newpaltz.edu (845) 257-3818
