Students accepted into the Art Department are automatically enrolled as Visual Arts majors in the B.S. program. The B.S. degree requires 30 credits of studio electives beyond the freshman year, some or all of which may be taken in photography. It is strongly advised that students concentrating in photography while taking the B.S. degree complete at least 3 intermediate photography courses and at least one of the two capstone courses, ARS450 The Document or ARS451 Contemporary Issues. In each of those courses, students produce an original body of work which contributes to a cohesive portfolio. Students in the B.S. program graduate with a Visual Arts degree, with their transcript documenting the extent of their course work in photography.
