Parking

Visitor park-and-pay machines are available at the new West Entrance on Hawk Dr. off Rt. 208 in front of HAB. Visitors may also purchase daily permits from the Welcome Center in the Haggerty Administration Building Lobby Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Please note that there have been some changes to the parking lots on campus:

  • The West Lot #37 (located between the Athletic and Wellness Center and Hawk Drive) has been split into two lots. The southern half, now West Student Parking Lot #37A, is available for 24-hour resident student parking. To access the lot, you must enter from Hawk Drive. The northern half of the lot, now West Lot #37, will continue to be available for day use only by faculty, staff, commuters and visitors. Any cars left in this lot overnight will be ticketed.
  • The Wallkill Lot #30 and Rote 32 lot #28 will continue to be a reduced-rate resident student lot for overnight parking.
  • The College Hall Park Lot # 19 is for Resident Students ONLY. It is no longer available for commuters.

All students, faculty, staff, and visitors who wish to park on the SUNY New Paltz campus must have a valid parking hangtag, permit or visitor permit. *

* Visitor permits are available at the Welcome Center located in the HAB lobby and the Parking Office located in HAB 35, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Permits are also available at the park-and-pay machines located by the HAB circle & West entrance 24 hrs/day.

Hangtags are not needed during the summer.

Possessing, creating or allowing your parking tag to be duplicated for the purpose of creating a fraudulent tag will immediately result in permanent termination of your campus parking privileges.

  • Parking Office (HAB 35)
  • University Police

    Please note: The second page is the Parking Rules and Regulations Summary.
    The completed form (accompanied by a copy of your College ID/driver's license, vehicle registration, and payment by cash, check or Mastercard/Visa) may be mailed, faxed, or delivered to the Parking Office, or placed in the drop box outside the Administrative Services office (HAB 40).

  • Hangtags may then be picked up at the Parking/Telecommunications Office (8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday) or at University Police after 5 p.m. for evening commuters and faculty/staff. Please specify on the form which option you request.

You will be issued one (1) hangtag per person and is for use by the owner in any vehicle they use.

Effective February 1, 2005, a one time appeal of "no permit" tickets will be granted for an individual faculty, staff or student. If you have already purchased a permit and received a ticket because it was not properly displayed, please complete the Parking Citation Appeal Form* and forward it to the Parking Office HAB 35.

A one time approvals will be handled by the Parking Office and will be recorded as such in the system. If an individual recieves a second "no permit" ticket after the one time appeal has been granted, and they wish to appeal it, it will be forwarded to the hearing officer for a decision.

STUDENTS
Residence Hall students that have 30 credits or more may apply for a parking hangtag. All commuter students may apply for a parking hangtag. Students have the option of purchasing a reduced parking hangtag for $20.00 per year. This hangtag restricts your parking on campus to Route 32 Parking (lot #28) and Walkill Parking (lot #30).

Freshman Parking Ban information

FACULTY/STAFF
The cost of a Faculty/Staff hang tag is $10.00 for one (1) hangtag. This hangtag may be used in any vehicle that you park on campus.

REPLACEMENT HANGTAGS
The replacement cost for a hangtag is $10.00 and must be accompanied by a completed University Police Form LSPark-01. This form is available at university police and can be completed anytime. A copy of the form must be brought to the parking office (HAB 35) to accompany a request for a new hanftag.
