If you are interested in being a guest on the program or suggesting an idea for a show, please contact Eric Gullickson in the Office of Public Affairs at (845) 257-3245 or Emily Trapp and Michael Koczanski in Instructional Media Services at (845) 257-3632.
Guests should wear medium to dark colored clothing. Earth tones, such as gray or brown with a pastel shirt always work well. Please, avoid wearing white clothing.
Avoid completely black outfits, which can blend into the black curtains. No small prints, no small stripes, no checkered patterns, no zigzag, etc. on clothing, especially shirts, jackets or ties. These could create distracting moiré patterns on camera.
Avoid large pieces of shiny or sparkly jewelry, which might reflect light into the camera.
Consider where the sound person is going to attach the lapel microphone. Does your outfit have a collar or lapels? It’s hard to place a mic well on a turtleneck. A scarf could be helpful to conceal the microphone placement.
The camera will see your entire outfit, including your socks and shoes.
Practice good posture.
If you are wearing a jacket, sitting on your coattail helps eliminate a wrinkled look in your clothing from the side camera shot. It also eliminates a hunched appearance around your shoulder/neck area from a front camera shot.
Make-up (neutral powder) will be applied to your face, top of forehead, neck and ears to eliminate shine. During the breaks in taping, your make-up may be touched up. If you perspire, tissues and more powder will help your appearance.
- For men, please wash your face before makeup application. After the taping, you may want to wash the powder off.
- For women, freshly applied makeup would be helpful. A freshly washed face is fine, also. If you have lipstick or lip gloss, please bring it to the taping.
Any paperwork you would like to keep on the table in front of you during the taping should be copied onto YELLOW paper. Yellow creates less glare for the camera.
If, during the taping, you make an error in speaking, please correct yourself and continue with the interview. We can fix it in post-production. If the error is not correctable, the DIRECTOR will make a decision to stop taping.
You will be asked to sign a guest release form that gives us the right to use your picture and voice in the broadcast of the On Campus show, promotional materials for the Campus, etc.
The total time of the show is 27 minutes, broken up into 10, 10, and 7-minute segments.
Relax and enjoy yourself!
