Student Evaluation of Instruction (SEI)

Special Situations

Adjuncts who ONLY teach at night

Because packets will be in a secure, perhaps locked after 4:30 location, it may be necessary to make alternative pick up arrangements.

It also may be necessary to have another individual pick up those packets for you (e.g. colleague or department chair) verify and check off that they were picked up and put them in a mailbox accessible to you. We will work with you if there are challenges in this regard.

Co-taught courses

Faculty who are co-teaching a course or courses must both be reflected in the system as teaching each course(s). Therefore, the student must fill out an evaluation for each instructor and they MUST be put in the envelope that matches the course number and instructors name.

"Combined" courses

There are a few situations where you may teach more than one section of a course, or more than one course, that meet and are conducted at the same time. Because these show as separate courses in the system we have no way, at present, to know that these courses and/or sections are meeting at the same time (the exception are lecture/lab/recitation courses). Previously you identified these situations on the request form and we produced a single packet for all of the identified courses and/or sections (and put multiple course labels on the front of your packet).

These SEIs should be administered at one time. In this situation we are asking you to pick up each packet for each course and combine them into a single packet for administration purposes. For example, in the situation below, the faculty member would pick up a packet for each of the courses listed, remove the forms from each subsequent packet, place in the first, and administer. We'd also ask that the empty envelopes be returned with the SEIs.

Early End courses

There are a few courses each semester that end before the regular semester is over. If you are teaching such courses contact Institutional Research at 3227 to make arrangements to get an SEI packet.

Off-Campus Courses (through Regional Education)

Adjunct instructors who are teaching courses in off-campus locations, arranged through Regional Education, will receive their SEI packets in the US mail through Regional Education.

This packet will include a postage paid return envelope for SEIs to be returned directly to IR. Please ensure that your students are aware that they must put these envelopes in the regular US mail.

SEI packets for regular faculty who are teaching in these locations will be distributed to their department. Please direct any questions, if you are an adjunct teaching in off-campus locations to: Helise Winters at ext. 2904
