
Presentations & ExhibitionsJack Wade (Theatre Arts) is the co-lighting designer for "The Devil's Music: The Life and Blues of Bessie Smith" at the Shadowland Theatre in Ellenville. The play, written by Angelo Para and conceived and directed by Joe Brancato, runs through Sept. 4. Alumni in the NewsEdward J. Renehan Jr.'s '80 latest book, "Dark Genius of Wall Street: The Misunderstood Life of Jay Gould, King of the Robber Barons," received three New York Times reviews: two in various daily editions, and one in the Sunday Times Book Review.
Rebecca Zilinski '04 (Biological Anthropology and Painting) has received a scholarship from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, a private, independent foundation established in 2000 by the estate of Jack Kent Cooke, to help young people of exceptional promise reach their full potential through education. Kent Cooke was a threetime Super Bowl champion with the Washington Redskins. Its programs include full scholarships for students attending graduate and professional school, scholarships for students from community colleges who want to earn four-year degrees, and scholarships to help high-achieving youth develop their talents and abilities throughout high school. The scholarships could be worth up to $300,000 each. Zalinski, who plans to do her graduate work at New Paltz, was chosen following a national competition that attracted candidates from across the country.
