School of Ed visited by top educator

David Lavallee (Provost), Robert Michael (Dean, School of Education) and Bruce Sillner (Dean, International Education) greeted Mrs. Neelam Kaushal, OSD Academics, head office, Navyug Schools Educational Society, New Delhi, India, on July 9.

Kaushal visited campus for a course in Educational Leadership, taught by professors Jan Hammond and Michael Muffs (Educational Administration), in coordination with the Principals' Center Leadership Conference, with more than 250 aspiring and current school leaders.

Kaushal is an educator with more than 33 years in public school education, she has received acclaim as an outstanding principal and her school was selected as one of the best national schools in India. She has led many initiatives in the areas of technology, values education and project-based education.

In 1986, Kaushal was the course director of the New Education Policy for In-service Training of Teachers. She is the recipient of the national award from NCERT, as well as the state award from Delhi State. She received the International Woman Award from Nehru Bal Samati, registered Non-Government Organization.

Since 1982, Kaushal has been head of the Navyug Schools, New Delhi. During her tenure, she developed four schools for Navyug. Recently, she was given the title of Computer Coordinator for the New Delhi Municipal Council schools.

Today, her responsibilities include the supervision of all 10 schools, in respect of curriculum, examination system and the liaison to the Ministry of Education. She has a bachelor of science honors degree from Delhi University and a master's degree in language, also from Delhi University.
