What's New?

West campus entrance to open, Southside entrance to close

Beginning this week, if all goes well with construction schedules, the Southside Avenue entrance to campus will be closed and the new Westside entrance will be opening.

John Shupe (Facilities Management) said as the college continues to grow to the south -- with the recent opening of the two new residence halls, Lenape and Esopus, and the new Athletic and Wellness Center opening this spring -- there will naturally be more cars travelling to and from that area of campus. He said that the new entrance, which may officially be named "Hawk Drive," is designed to make it easier for students, visitors and community members to find their way around campus by car.

In addition, Shupe said that by closing the Southside Avenue entrance to campus, it will effectively reduce auto traffic on Tricor and Elting avenues.

Technology allows campus community to receive college news directly to desktop

Now, with the technology offered by Really Simple Syndication (RSS), the campus community can receive targeted SUNY New Paltz news and event information delivered right to your desktop.

Public Affairs and Computer Services have made six different RSS feeds available, which include official news from public affairs; news from the School of Fine and Performing Arts; news from Athletics; a feed that combines all three news areas; campus events; and athletic events. To read these news and events feeds you need a software application, known as an aggregator. Available aggregators can be found on the SUNY New Paltz RSS feeds Web page. The Firefox and Safari Web browsers have the ability to view RSS feeds right within their browsers, so an additional software program is not needed if you use one of those browsers. For more information on how to sign up for RSS feeds, visit www.newpaltz.edu/rss/about.html.
