
Presentations & ExhibitionsLourdes Giordani (Anthropology) presented the paper "Communicating with the Nation and the World: Old Stories, New Ways among the Guaranı ıandıva of Paraguay," at the 4th Sesquiannual Meeting of The Society for the Anthropology of Lowland South America on June 11 in Colorado. PublicationsSusan Kraat (Library) edited a book titled "Relationships Between Teaching Faculty and Teaching Librarians," published in June 2005 by The Haworth Information Press. The book was co-published simultaneously as numbers 89/90 of the journal, "The Reference Librarian." Stephan J. Macaluso (Library) and Barbara Whitney Petruzzelli (Library) co-authored the article, "The Library Liaison Tool Kit: Learning to Bridge the Communication Gap," in "The Reference Librarian," numbers 89/90, published in June 2005. The journal issue was simultaneously published as a monograph titled "Relationships Between Teaching Faculty and Teaching Librarians" by The Haworth Information Press. Alumni in the NewsTao Jie '81 (English), professor emeritus at Peking University, co-authored a book titled "Holding up Half the Sky: Chinese Women Past, Present and Future," published by Feminist Press at the City University of New York in 2004. Professor Tao was one of the first scholars from China to receive graduate degrees in the United States after President Nixon normalized relations with the People's Republic of China. Mary Simmons '97 will be participating in the Avon 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer in New York on Oct. 1-2. Simmons will be walking almost 40 miles and has committed to raise at least $1,800 in donations.
