U.S. Rep. Hinchey to host forum to discuss implications of Downing Street memos

Congressman Maurice Hinchey '68, '70g (D-NY) will hold a community forum to discuss the implications of the Downing Street memos and other information recently uncovered that further calls into question the Bush Administration's case for war in Iraq from 7 - 9 p.m. this Thursday at the Coykendall Science Building Auditorium.

Professor Robert Miraldi (Journalism) will join Hinchey to discuss the news media's coverage of the Downing Street memos and the Iraq war overall. Hinchey has called for the timely and responsible removal of U.S. troops from Iraq and has said the United States should commit more resources to fighting al Qaeda, which represents the primary threat to U.S. national security. The event is open to the public and refreshments will be provided.

Work Study job fair to take place Aug. 26

All departments that have been granted a Work Study allocation for the upcoming year are invited to participate in the Work Study Job Fair on Friday, Aug. 26. This event will be held from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) of the Student Union Building (SUB). During this event, students who have been awarded work study will meet with various departments looking to interview and hire students. Also, paperwork will be submitted to the Work Study Coordinator, in order to reduce the time it takes for Work Study students to get on the payroll. If your department would like to be a part of the job fair, call Suzanne O'Driscoll at x3012 or e-mail odriscos@newpaltz.edu. She will be taking table reservations for departments that wish to attend. For other questions, please contact Kevin McFarland by e-mail at mcfarlak@newpaltz.edu or at x3247. This event is being hosted by the Office of Financial Aid, in conjunction with the Office of Student Activities. Refreshments will be provided by Campus Auxiliary Services.

Only a few spots left for summer circus camp

There are only a few more openings left for the annual circus camp on the SUNY New Paltz campus. This year the camp has expanded its program to include adult participants ages 18 and over and is offering a 15 percent faculty and staff discount. The camp traditionally accepts participants ages 8-17, but this year, The National Circus Academy's "Circus Project" will be available to everyone. The circus camp will take place under a big top circus tent located on the Parker Quad for a two-week camp session from July 11-22. Skills that will be taught include, but are not limited to, juggling, unicycling, tumbling, clowning, stilt and tightwire walking and aerials. If you are interested in registering, contact Jennifer Piren (Conference Services) at x3033.
