Alice Andrews' (Psychology) essay, "An Evolutionary Mind," was published in Metanexus Online Journal: The Online Forum on Religion and Science; Jan. 13, Vol. 5, Issue #1. www.metanexus.net.

Anne R. Roschelle (Chair, Sociology) had a book chapter, titled "Families in Cuba: From Colonialism to Revolution," published in the Handbook of World Families, edited by Bert N. Adams and Jan Trost, Sage Publications, Inc. 2005. The chapter was coauthored by Maura Toro-Morn (Illinois State University) and Elisa Facio (University of Colorado-Boulder). They are the only U.S. authors in this volume that includes scholars from all over the world.

Russell Hilliard (Music Therapy) had his article, "A Post-Hoc Analysis of Music Therapy Services for Residents in Nursing Homes Receiving Hospice Care," published in the Journal of Music Therapy, 41(4); 266-281; Winter, 2004.

Presentations & Exhibitions

Julia Keefer (Communication & Media) gave a bilingual presentation in Marrakesh, Morocco, on Jan. 14 at an international conference for screenwriters, titled "Against Homogeneity: Developing Cultural Diversity in Mass-Market Screenplays." She has also been invited to present a paper on four narrative styles in transmedia storytelling at MIT's Media-in-Transition conference this May, based on four novels she is now finishing.

Awards, Honors, Appointments and Recognition

H.P. Sankappanavar (Mathematics) received the 2004 Alumni Association Award for Distinguished Teacher. He was presented the award at the association's annual Alumni Recognition Ceremony on Nov. 13.

Narcyz Roztocki (Business) has been appointed as managing editor for Journal Information Science & Technology (JIST). This journal is premier publication of the Information Institute. JIST Web site: http://www.jist.info

Alumni in the News

Danielle Aiello (Geography, '02) will work as a volunteer for six months in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, with a non-profit organization, Schools for Children of the World. She will assist in planning for school construction as part of the Honduras School Facility Master Plan for the Honduras Ministry of Education. Aiello currently works as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician at Dutchess County Department of Planning & Development.

Michele Reccardo (Communication & Media, '04) has been appointed Advertising Executive Sales Assistant for the Barnstable Long Island Radio Group (LIRG) in Farmingdale's Airport Plaza. The LIRG consists of three FM stations (WMJCIsland 94.3; WKJY-KJoy; and WBZO-B103) and one AM station (WHLI).
