
What's New?More than $500 raised in SEFA 50/50 fall raffleMore than $500 was raised by the SEFA 50/50 raffle this fall and will be sent to four SEFA charitable agencies chosen by the winners. More news will follow regarding the prize raffles that will take place during the calendar year 2005. Every employee who pledged a payroll deductible donation or gave a cash donation will be automatically entered into the drawings. As of the first week in December, $14,100 had been pledged. As the deadline approaches, the SEFA Committee is very hopeful that last year's total will be surpassed.

Linda Orton (Planning and Construction) was the fourth winner. They each won approximately $125. Jewish literature is topic of reading and discussion series"Between Two Worlds: Stories of Estrangement and Homecoming" is the theme of the upcoming reading and discussion series, titled "Let's Talk About It! Jewish Literature," which will be held at the Sojourner Truth Library during the Spring 2005 semester. The five-part series will focus on identity and imagination in the works of five modern Jewish writers. The series is free and open to the public and will take place Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. on the following dates: Feb. 2; Feb. 23; March 16; April 6 and April 20. Those who are interested in attending are urged to register in advance to receive interpretive essays and discussion questions for each book. Sojourner Truth Library closed for renovationThe Sojourner Truth Library building will be closed from Dec. 20 to Jan. 4, 2005 in order to recarpet the main floor and retile the display area. Please use the electronic resources available on the library Web site at http://lib.newpaltz.edu during this period. The library will resume its intersession hours on Jan. 5, 2005. Swim team lends a hand to local families in needThe SUNY New Paltz swim team held its annual Adopt-a- Family community service project through the Family Partnership in Poughkeepsie on Dec. 16. The team has been helping families in need for four years with necessity gift items and toys for the children during the holidays. This year, the team was assigned three families, totalling 12 people.
