
Awards, Honors, Appointments and RecognitionJonathan Schwartz (Political Science) has been awarded a $13,930 grant by St. Louis University for his project, titled “Evaluating the Effectiveness of Public Health Networks - Chinese Experience with SARS.” The purpose of the research is to develop policy recommendations for the U.S. public health network based on the Chinese experience with infectious diseases, especially SARS. Presentations & ExhibitionsRussell Hilliard (Music Therapy) presented “Measuring the Benefits of Music Therapy Among People with a Terminal Illness” at the 6th European Music Therapy Congress in Jyvaskyla, Finland. Mary Boyle (Music Therapy) presented “An Overview of Measurement Strategies for Music Therapists in General Medical Settings” at the event. PublicationsSally Schultz (Business) and Joan Hollister (Marist College) published an article “Single-Entry Accounting in Early America: The Accounts of the Hasbrouck Family” in The Accounting Historians Journal, Vol. 31, No. 1 (June 2004). Diego Dominici (Mathematics) and Charles Knessl (University of Illinois at Chicago) have published the research paper “A small elliptic perturbation of a backward-forward parabolic problem with applications to stochastic models” in Applied Mathematics Letters (17) 5, 535--542, 2004. Alumni in the NewsJohn Turturro (’79) has been nominated for an Emmy Award for his guest-starring role on the USA Network series, “Monk.” Lyle Ring (’96) has accepted a Peace Corps assignment to volunteer as an English as a foreign language teacher in Romania this summer.
