Pattern brings Clinton to campus

U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton was greeted by a select group of vice presidents, deans, faculty and students for a 30-minute briefing on the college prior to speaking at the 40th anniversary conference of the Mid- Hudson Pattern for Progress held on campus on May 26 and 27. Pattern is an economic development organization comprised of many of the region's top business, educational and civic leaders.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton met with President Steven Poskanzer and other members of the campus community on May 26 in the Old Main Building.

During the meeting, President Steven Poskanzer highlighted some of the outstanding qualities of SUNY New Paltz and took the opportunity to ask for the senator"s support in helping to secure federal funding for the campus. In her address in Studley Theatre, Clinton urged colleges and businesses to work together to better educate the workforce and said that she would be working with U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey ("68) to help New Paltz and the region achieve the goals set before them.
