2003 Graduating Senior Survey

For more than a week now the May 2004 Graduating Senior Survey (undergraduates only) has been "live" through my.newpaltz. edu and available to students. Last year the response rate was about 81 percent, and this year the Office of Institutional Research (OIR) is hoping to maintain that same level of response. Students who have applied for May graduation receive a "pop up" notice when they log in to my.newpaltz.edu with a link to the survey. Additionally, in the "alerts" section they can also access the survey link. Currently, there are almost 300 respondents (about a 33 percent response rate), and OIR will be sending out reminder e-mails to graduating seniors soon. Lastly, the campus wide summary of the May 2003 senior survey is available through the OIR Web site at www.newpaltz.edu/oir/projects.html.

Provost David Lavallee (left) and President Steven Poskanzer (center) meet with delegates from Yeditepe University of Istanbul,Turkey; Dr. Ahmet Serpil, (President) Dr. Atilla Dicle (Provost) and Dr. Ali Nezihi Bilge (Director of the Institute of Graduate Studies in Science and Engineering) to sign and exchange terms of agreement for the new Turkish Council of Higher Education (YOK) dualdiploma program set to begin on campus this summer.

President Poskanzer and President Serpil signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the universities to foster broad academic collaboration and exchange, and to develop a dual-diploma degree program in business. This program will be developed under an umbrella agreement between the YOK and the SUNY educational systems. The SUNY-YOK agreement encourages the establishment of partnerships to create dual-diploma programs in specified fields of study. Yeditepe University and SUNY New Paltz also agreed to begin developing an exchange program between their universities. New Paltz expects to begin with 10 students, but as the programs are established, the number of students will grow. For more information about the SUNY-YOK agreement, visit www.newpaltz.edu/dualdiploma.
