
Media Day focuses on communication careers
The Department of Communication and Media hosted the third annual Communication Media Day on March 26 in The Terrace Restaurant on the New Paltz campus. At the event, visiting communication and media professionals shared their knowledge and experiences with students through this year's theme, "Beyond the Classroom: Communication Careers." The panel session for the day included the following communication and media professionals: Ellen Shaplowsky, executive vice president, Ruder Finn Public Relations; Ed Carroll ('85), executive vice president/general manager, Independent Film Channel; David Rossiter ('02), research analyst, Tribune Entertainment; Michael Frank, editor, Mountain Bike Magazine; Eric Gullickson ('00), media relations coordinator, SUNY New Paltz Public Affairs; Michael Levine, executive editor, Times Herald- Record; Denise Kennedy- Shane ('89), broadcast coordinator, Mediacom, and freelance associate producer, NBC News and Mensah Robinson ('99), sales planner, Superstation WGN. In addition, the students of the Communication and Media Department introduced their research and creative work in oral and poster presentations from 1 to 3 p.m. |
