Awards, Honors, Appointments and Recognition

James Halpern (Psychology) was awarded a $2,000 grant by the Ulster County Mental Health Department for his project, "Ulster County Mental Health Consulting." The project will provide consultations to the department in the development and conducting of ongoing training relating to disaster mental health services in Ulster County.

Kimberly Lukaszewski (Business) and co-authors Linda Isenhour (Eastern Michigan University) and Dianna Stone (University of Texas – San Antonio) received the "Best Paper Award" for their manuscript, "e-Recruitment: Research at the Intersection of Technology and Talent Acquisition," during the annual conference for the Western Business and Management Association in Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 15-16.

Presentations, Exhibitions

Elizabeth Hester (Communication Disorders) and Carie Gonzales ’06g (Communication Disorders) will present a paper, “Bridging Domains: Speech Perception and Reading,” on Nov. 16, at thenAmerican Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s annual convention in Miami, Fla.

Mary Kahl (Communication and Media) presented a paper, "An Analysis of Argument in George Washington's Newburgh Address: 'Address to the Officers of the Army,' March 15, 1783," at the Sixth International Conference on Argumentation, held in Amsterdam, Netherlands in June. The manuscript was selected for inclusion in Conference Proceedings.

The Hudson Valley Writing Project (HVWP) presented seven workshops at the 56th Annual Conference of the New York State English Council (NYSEC) held in Albany, Oct. 18-20. HVWP director Mary Sawyer and co-director Bonnie Kaplan were joined by HVWP teacher consultants from New Paltz Central School District, Monroe-Woodbury Central School District, Newburgh Enlarged City School District, Rhinebeck Central School District, Stony Kill Farm Environmental Education Center and Poughkeepsie Day School.


Heather Hewett (English, Women's Studies) published "Talkin' Bout a Revolution: Building a Mothers' Movement in the Third Wave" in the Journal of the Association for Research on Mothering.
